Can ear infection cause fever?

My 3-year-old has been complaining of ear pain since morning, and now she's developed a fever. My mother-in-law said it's probably an ear infection. Can an ear infection cause a fever in a child?

Yes, an ear infection can definitely cause a fever as your body fights the bacteria. As a diabetic, I have to be very careful because infections can spike my blood sugar levels quickly, so I always visit my doctor immediately for proper antibiotic drops.

Of course it can cause a fever, especially in kids. Don't sit around waiting for it to go away on its own or putting random oils in the ear, just go to an ENT and get the right medicine.

Yes, a fever is quite common with ear infections. For temporary relief, you can use a warm compress on the side of the face and take a basic paracetamol, but please consult a local doctor to get the ear checked properly.

My family doctor explained that middle ear infections, or otitis media, frequently trigger a fever response as the immune system fights the fluid buildup and bacteria behind the eardrum. You'll likely need prescription ear drops or antibiotics to clear it fully.

Hey, don't worry, a fever is just your body doing its job to fight the infection. Just give the patient plenty of fluids, use a warm cloth for the ear ache, and make sure to see a doctor if the fever doesn't come down in 24 hours.

I deal with hormonal issues, so I always try to be cautious with my health. Ear infections often cause mild to high fevers, but it's best not to guess the dosage of pain relievers and just get a quick checkup with an ENT specialist.
