Can dry shampoo cause dandruff?

A few months ago, I started using dry shampoo regularly for convenience. But now I've developed a lot of dandruff, which I never had before. Could the dry shampoo be the culprit behind this problem?

Dry shampoo doesn't directly cause dandruff, but using it too often builds up on the scalp and traps oils. Just limit its use to once or twice a week and make sure you wash your hair properly with a real shampoo afterward.

I completely ruined my scalp health by relying on dry shampoo during a busy phase. The itching and white flakes made me so self-conscious that I stopped going out. It took me months of proper care to fix it.

I had this issue and solved it easily. Whenever you use dry shampoo, make sure to use a scalp scrub or a salicylic acid serum before your next wash. It breaks down the residue so dandruff doesn't start.

Yes, it definitely can if you don't wash it out properly. The powder buildup clogs the pores.

My dermatologist explained that dry shampoo absorbs oil but doesn't clean the scalp. This creates a breeding ground for the yeast that causes dandruff. It is best to use a clarifying shampoo once a week if you use styling products.

Honestly, yes! I used to use dry shampoo almost every second day to save time, and my scalp became so flaky and irritated. Now I only use it for emergencies and always do a double-cleanse on wash days.

I just recovered from a bad case of scalp buildup that looked exactly like dandruff. My doctor told me the dry shampoo starch was clogging my hair follicles. I stopped using it entirely and my scalp is finally clear now.
