Can drinking pop cause kidney stones?

I've been a big fan of soft drinks since childhood, having at least one daily. Recently, I've been hearing that 'pop' or sugary drinks can be bad for your kidneys and might even cause kidney stones. Is there any truth to this claim?

As someone managing diabetes, I strictly avoid sodas anyway because of the high sugar. But my doctor also told me that the phosphoric acid in dark sodas can lead to kidney stones by pulling calcium out of the bones. It is highly toxic for both your kidneys and blood sugar.

Buying those expensive cans of soda will only lead to high hospital bills later. An ultrasound for kidney stones and the subsequent urologist fees will cost you thousands of rupees. It is much more budget-friendly to drink plain, filtered tap water instead.

A good vegetarian diet needs proper hydration to flush out minerals, but carbonated pop actually does the opposite. The high fructose corn syrup and phosphoric acid in sodas can significantly increase your risk of forming calcium oxalate stones. Stick to fresh, home-made juices or herbal teas.

I used to drink soda daily and panicked when I felt a sharp pain in my side, thinking I had developed a kidney stone. Luckily, it was just bad gastric pain, but it made me research and realize how bad sodas are for kidneys. I quit them and feel so much better and safer now.

I love my pizza with a cold bottle of cola, but those fizzy drinks can really mess up your kidneys. My cousin got a painful stone last year and the doctor blamed his heavy soda habit. I still indulge occasionally, but I always make sure to drink double the amount of water afterwards.

Haan na, drinking too much pop is really bad for health. The gas and chemical sweeteners in it can affect the kidneys, ho na. It is much better to drink fresh coconut water or simple home-made buttermilk to stay cool.
