Can drinking cause back pain?

I've been experiencing nagging lower back pain for a few months now. I also tend to have a glass of wine or two most evenings to relax. Could there be a connection, can drinking alcohol somehow lead to or worsen back pain?

Actually, drinking can dehydrate the muscles and discs in your back, causing aches. Since I have thyroid, I always make sure to track my body aches and get regular blood tests done. If this back pain keeps happening after you drink, it's a good idea to show it to a doctor.

Alcohol causes inflammation and dehydration, which makes the muscles in your back stiff. I usually suggest putting a warm sesame oil pack or a hot water bag on the area to soothe the muscles. However, if the back pain is very severe or radiates to your stomach, please go to a hospital as it could be something more serious.

Yes, it happens to me too sometimes, mostly because of dehydration. Try to drink lots of water and see if the pain reduces.

Haan bhai, drinking can cause back stiffness because of dehydration. Simple solution is to drink a glass of water after every peg, and don't sit in awkward positions on the sofa for hours while drinking. A basic warm water bath before sleeping also helps a lot with the stiffness.

Sitting for long hours at work and then drinking on weekends is a bad combo for the back. Alcohol dehydrates the body, making muscle spasms worse. If you can't avoid drinking completely, at least drink water between drinks and stretch your back regularly. If it's a constant pain, get it checked by a doc.

Alcohol disturbs the vata dosha in our body, which often causes body aches and back pain. You can apply some warm mustard oil on your back for relief. But remember, the best remedy is to reduce the alcohol intake and drink warm water to flush out toxins.

Yes, it absolutely can. I used to get terrible lower back pain after drinking beer, and my doctor told me it was due to mild dehydration and posture issues while sitting and drinking. I started drinking double the amount of water and limited my alcohol, and the pain vanished.
