Can drainage cause vomiting?

I've had a bad cold for a few days, and there's a lot of drainage in my throat, especially at night. This morning, I actually vomited. Is it possible that all this drainage can cause vomiting, or should I be worried about something else?

My mother always tells me that post-nasal drip can upset the stomach, especially in the morning. The excess mucus dripping down the throat can irritate your stomach lining and trigger vomiting. But if it persists, a quick consultation with your doctor is always the best path.

I totally get it, that constant dripping at the back of your throat is so annoying and easily makes you feel like throwing up. It usually happens because the mucus makes your stomach acidic. Try to stay upright and drink warm fluids, it really helps ease the nausea.

Yes, absolutely! When cold or sinus mucus drips into the stomach, it causes a lot of nausea. I always do salt-water gargles twice a day and drink warm ginger-honey tea ghar pe. It helps soothe the throat and stops that vomiting feeling.

Yes, sinus drainage swallowing can definitely irritate your digestive tract and cause vomiting. I suggest visiting a good ENT specialist at a hospital to get the sinus infection treated properly rather than just treating the nausea.

Ah, the joys of having a sinus issues. Every time my nose starts draining, my stomach acts like it's a critical emergency and I end up dry-heaving. Trust me, it is just the mucus irritating your stomach, but a simple steam inhalation helps calm things down.

In my experience, whenever my grandchildren get a heavy cold, they throw up because of the swallowed phlegm. It is very common and nothing to panic about. Just keep them hydrated and give them light food until the congestion clears.
