Can diabetics take metamucil?

I've been advised to increase my fiber intake, and Metamucil was recommended by a friend. Since I am diabetic, I am concerned about the sugar content or any potential effects on my blood glucose. Can diabetics safely use Metamucil?

Since we diabetics already have to watch our carbs, dealing with constipation on top of it is just unfair! Metamucil is great, but make sure you get the sugar-free version. The regular one has real sugar that will ruin your diet efforts.

I had terrible digestion issues recently and started using Metamucil. It worked really well and even helped stabilize my morning blood sugar. Just be careful to only buy the sugar-free orange flavor, not the regular one.

Yes, psyllium husk (which is in Metamucil) actually helps lower post-meal sugar spikes by slowing down glucose absorption. However, my doctor advised me to always buy the sugar-free variety and drink a full glass of water with it to prevent any blockages.

I want to start taking Metamucil for fiber, but I'm worried it might affect my diabetic medication absorption if I take them together. Does anyone else space them out? I will consult my doctor but wanted to hear your experiences.

Don't stress too much, dear! Metamucil is actually really helpful for diabetics because of the fiber. Just make sure to double-check the label and pick up the sugar-free tub. It'll keep your digestion happy and your sugar stable!

Yeah, it's totally fine. I take the sugar-free Metamucil everyday to keep my gut health in check. Just drink loads of water with it, otherwise it doesn't work well. Check with your doc once if you're unsure.
