Can diabetics take glucosamine chondroitin?

My knee joints have been aching quite a bit lately, and a friend suggested Glucosamine Chondroitin supplements. As a diabetic, I need to check everything before consuming it. Will this supplement be safe for my diabetes?

For joint pains, gentle yoga stretches and warm sesame oil massage work wonders. Glucosamine can sometimes affect insulin sensitivity in some people. It is better to discuss this supplement with your doctor before starting it.

Glucosamine is technically an amino sugar, so it might cause small fluctuations in your blood glucose. It is not a major issue for everyone, but you must monitor your sugar levels closely for the first two weeks if you start taking it.

My knees sound like bubble wrap when I walk, so I asked my doctor about glucosamine. He said it is okay but told me to keep checking my HbA1c because it can sometimes raise fasting sugar a bit. Ah, the joys of getting older!

Haan na, joint pain is so troublesome. My mother-in-law has diabetes and she wanted to take this. Her doctor told us that some brands can increase blood sugar levels, so we have to monitor her fasting readings very carefully.

I was prescribed glucosamine chondroitin for my knee pain last year. Since I am diabetic, my physician had me do weekly blood sugar checks to ensure my levels remained stable. Thankfully, it didn't spike mine, but definitely take your doctor's opinion.
