Can diabetics take benadryl?

I get seasonal allergies sometimes, and I usually take Benadryl to help with the symptoms. Now that I have diabetes, I'm not sure if it's safe for me. Can diabetics take Benadryl for allergies, or should I look for alternatives?

Please consult your doctor before taking Benadryl. I once took an over-the-counter cough syrup containing antihistamines and my blood sugar levels fluctuated badly, leading to complications. Always get a doctor's prescription for allergies.

Hey, Benadryl can make u super drowsy, and some cough syrups have lots of sugar. My dad always checks with his doc for sugar-free allergy meds instead. Better to ask your doctor first, honestly.

My uncle is diabetic and when he had a bad allergic reaction, his doctor advised him to avoid liquid Benadryl because of the sugar content. He was prescribed a tablet form instead. Definitely check with your physician before taking it.

I was researching this because my friend is diabetic and had a bad cold. It seems Benadryl can sometimes cause drowsiness which might make it harder to recognize signs of low blood sugar. It's probably safer to ask a doctor first.

For mild allergies or a cough, I usually prefer natural things like warm water with basil leaves or a bit of ginger juice. Benadryl can have high sugar if it is a syrup. If your symptoms are severe, please see a doctor instead of self-medicating.

As a parent of a diabetic child, I never give him any antihistamine like Benadryl without consulting his pediatrician first. Some of these medications can affect heart rate and blood sugar levels. Please consult a doctor for a safe alternative.

Look, liquid Benadryl is often loaded with sugar, which is obviously bad for diabetics. If you have an allergy, don't just grab a syrup from the chemist. Ask your doctor for a sugar-free tablet instead. Simple.
