Can diabetics have protein shakes?

My friend suggested I try protein shakes to help with my hunger management and to get enough protein. As a diabetic, I'm a bit unsure. Are protein shakes a good option for us, or should I be careful about something?

Honestly, just check the label because most commercial protein shakes have hidden sugars. My dad drinks a clean home-blended whey shake and it works fine for his sugars. Just don't buy those ready-to-drink chocolate shakes from the market.

My brother drinks protein shakes after his walks, but we always consult our doctor first. He advised using only unsweetened whey isolate and blending it with unsweetened almond milk instead of regular milk. It is safer to follow the doctor's precise guidance.

Yes, but only if they are sugar-free and low in carbs. Avoid pre-made bottled shakes from shops.

Yes, you can have them if you make them at home with unsweetened protein powder. Just avoid adding honey, dates, or bananas to the shake. Hope this helps you.

My doctor explicitly told me that protein shakes can be beneficial for muscle mass, which helps glucose disposal. However, he warned that some proteins have maltodextrin which spikes sugar terribly. He recommended choosing an pure isolate with no fillers.

I always feel so nervous before trying new supplements like protein shakes. Has anyone else noticed their sugar spiking after having whey protein? I am scared to try it even though my gym trainer suggested it.

Look, those fancy protein shakes are very expensive. A simple, practical home option is to blend roasted chana powder (sattu) with water, a bit of roasted cumin, and black salt. It is cheap, safe for diabetes, and gives good protein.

Haan na, market waale shakes mein bahut sugar hoti hai actually. If you want a protein shake, home-made is best. Just use plain unsweetened powder and add some almonds or chia seeds for a good healthy mix.
