Can diabetics have pizza?

My family orders pizza sometimes, and it's so hard to resist. I have diabetes, so I usually don't eat it, but I'm wondering if there's any way I can have a slice without affecting my sugar.

I can't give any medical advice, but I can share what I do. Whenever my kids order pizza, I eat just one slice of thin-crust pizza loaded with chicken and veggies, and skip the garlic bread. My sugar stays relatively stable that way.

I used to panic and think my social life was over after my diagnosis because I couldn't eat pizza. But I realized having one slice of a thin wheat-crust pizza once in a while is perfectly fine. Don't worry, just manage your other meals on that day.

Beta, normal pizza has maida and sweet sauces which are not good for your health. If you are making it at home, use a ragi or oats crust and add lots of vegetables. It tastes nice and is much safer for your sugar levels.

Haan bilkul craving hoti hai, pizza toh sabka favourite hai na. Par market waala pizza maida se banta hai toh sugar spike karega hi. Kabhi kabhaar dil kare toh thin crust le lo aur cheese thoda kam rakhna.

I monitor my sugar very strictly and regular commercial pizzas always spike my glucose levels because of the refined flour and hidden sugar in the tomato sauce. I only eat pizza made with almond flour crust at home now.

I just managed to bring my HbA1c down from 8.5 to 6.2 recently. I completely cut out fast foods like pizza during this recovery phase. Trust me, staying away from refined flour for a few months makes a huge difference to your health.

Agreed, regular pizza is risky. Try a cauliflower crust pizza instead, it is much lower in carbs.

Haan na, pizza ka smell aate hi control nahi hota! But health also matters. If you must eat, just have one small slice with a big bowl of green salad beforehand so you eat less pizza. Try checking your sugar levels after that.

I get so anxious even thinking about eating pizza, the carbs in maida are just scary. If you do eat it, maybe check your sugar after two hours? I always worry that a single slice might cause a massive silent spike.

Our family doctor at Max Hospital clearly advised us that fast food like pizza should be strictly avoided during high HbA1c phases. It's always best to ask your doctor clearly how many carbs you are allowed before planning cheat meals.

I know how hard it is to control your tongue when the family is eating pizza. When we make it at home, I rub some garlic and olive oil on a multigrain roti, put veggies and a little cheese, and bake it on the tawa. It works beautifully!

Please be very careful with pizza. I had severe kidney complications due to uncontrolled diabetes and diet negligence. Never guess your diet limits; go see your doctor regularly and get professional advice on what you can eat.
