Can diabetics eat white bread?

My family has always eaten white bread, but now with my diabetes, everyone tells me it's bad. I'm trying to understand why. Can a diabetic eat white bread at all, or is it something I must completely avoid?

My sugar levels shot up to 280 last month after eating white bread sandwiches for breakfast. I immediately stopped it and switched to rotis and oats. Trust me, maida is absolutely not worth the risk for us.

I ignored my diet and kept eating white bread and refined carbs, which eventually led to severe diabetic neuropathy in my feet. Please don't take this lightly. Get a proper diet plan from your doctor and avoid maida completely.

White bread has a very high glycemic index because all the fiber is stripped away. As a vegetarian, I prefer getting my carbs from whole grains like bajra, jowar, or brown rice which keep you full longer without the sugar spikes.

Honestly, a hot buttered toast made of white bread is pure love, but it is a total villain for diabetes. If you can't resist, maybe have half a slice once in a blue moon loaded with egg or butter to slow down the absorption, but definitely not daily!

Agree with others, white bread is mostly maida and digests too fast. Better to completely avoid it or switch to multigrain if you really crave bread.
