Can diabetics eat sugar?

My doctor always tells me to cut down on sugar. Does this mean absolutely no sugar for diabetics, or can I have a very tiny amount sometimes in my tea? I find it very difficult to give it up completely.

I completely understand the panic when you think you have to give up sugar completely, it is so overwhelming. But honestly, you don't have to completely ban it, you just need to be very mindful of the portions and frequency.

I am quite new to this diagnosis and still very confused. Is eating normal sugar in tea really bad, or can we have a little bit if our levels are mostly normal? I would love to hear what you all do.

In our times, we managed health with simple home habits like drinking methi water in the morning. It is best to avoid direct white sugar as it acts like poison for the body, but you can consult your vaidya or doctor about natural alternatives.

Well, you *can* eat sugar, but your glucometer will start screaming at you! It's best to keep direct sugar for when your levels crash, and use safer sweeteners for daily tea.

My elders always used to say that a little jaggery is fine, but my doctor strictly warned me that all sugars affect the body similarly. I listen to my doctor and keep sugar or jaggery to a bare minimum now.
