Can diabetics eat sorbet?

I'm still figuring out my new diet plan after being diagnosed with diabetes a few months ago. Someone mentioned that sorbet might be a better option than regular ice cream. Can I safely have sorbet, or should I avoid it too?

At my age, I have realized that balance is everything. I used to think sorbet is healthy because it has no dairy, but it is actually loaded with fruit sugars. Don't worry too much, just keep it for very rare occasions and enjoy a tiny portion without guilt.

Honestly, finding out what is safe is so stressful. I bought a sugar-free sorbet the other day but I'm still too scared to eat it. Has anyone else felt this fear of checking their sugar levels after trying new desserts?

I am quite new to managing diabetes and still trying to learn. I read that sorbet has no fat, but does that make it okay for us, or does the fruit juice in it still cause sugar spikes? Please let me know what you all do.

Actually, my doctor explained that sorbet lacks fat and protein, which means the sugar in it gets absorbed super fast into your bloodstream. He advised me to completely avoid commercial sorbets unless they are specifically formulated for diabetics and have zero added sugar.

While sorbet seems like a lighter alternative to ice cream, the sugar content can be deceptively high. It really depends on your current insulin or medication plan. Your diabetologist is the best person to guide you on how to incorporate such treats safely.
