Can diabetics eat pumpkin pie?

My daughter is learning to bake and wants to make a pumpkin pie. I have diabetes, and I know most desserts are a no-go. Is there any way I can have a small slice, or is pumpkin pie too high in sugar?

Haan na, dessert cravings are so hard to control when you have sugar. Regular pumpkin pie has too much condensed milk and sugar, plus the maida crust which is not good. Maybe try making a sugar-free, crustless version at home.

I completely understand wanting a slice of pie during festive times! Standard pumpkin pie is loaded with sugar, but my diabetic aunt makes a keto pumpkin pie using stevia and almond flour crust, and it barely affects her sugar levels.

I know how stressful it is to watch everyone enjoy desserts while you feel anxious about your health. If you really want a taste, try having just one small bite after a protein-rich meal, as that can help prevent a sudden glucose spike.

As a vegetarian who tracks nutritional values closely, I would advise caution with pumpkin pie. While pumpkin itself is healthy, the pie crust and added sugars create a high glycemic load that is risky for diabetics.

Please be very careful with festive desserts like pumpkin pie, as my brother had a severe sugar spike that required medical attention. It is always best to check with your doctor or dietician before eating sweet baked items.

Traditional pumpkin pie is a heavy carb and sugar load because of the sweetened filling and refined flour crust. If you are trying to stay active and manage diabetes, it is best to skip normal bakery pies and look for low-carb, protein-friendly alternatives.
