Can diabetics eat plums?

I'm trying to add more fruits to my diet after my diabetes diagnosis. I saw some fresh plums at the market yesterday, and they looked so good. Are plums a good choice for diabetics, or should I stick to other fruits?

According to my consulting physician, plums have a low glycemic index of about 40, which is highly beneficial. They contain adiponectin, a hormone that actually helps regulate blood sugar levels. He recommended eating 1-2 fresh plums as a mid-morning snack.

Go ahead and enjoy some plums, they are completely safe! It is one of the few sweet things left that won't make your glucometer scream at you the next morning. Just don't eat the whole basket in one sitting!

Yes, you can eat plums. I regularly include them in my diet. However, always stick to a portion control of one or two small ones at a time. Too many plums can still add up the carb count, so moderation is key.

I was looking up low-sugar fruits for my dad yesterday and found out that plums are actually great. They are full of fiber which slows down how fast the sugar hits the bloodstream. Just make sure they are fresh, not the dried prunes which have concentrated sugar.

Plums are perfectly fine and safe. They have a low glycemic load, so they won't cause spikes. Just eat them fresh and whole; don't go drinking plum juice or eating canned plums in syrup, which are loaded with processed sugar.
