Can diabetics eat maple syrup and honey?

My grandchildren love honey and I sometimes get maple syrup for them. My daughter recently developed diabetes, and I am confused about what sweeteners she can use. Are maple syrup and honey off-limits for her?

I can only share what happened with me—both maple syrup and raw honey caused my fasting glucose to jump the next morning. Now I totally steer clear of both. Everyone's body is different, so it's best to see how it affects your own readings.

I get so scared even looking at maple syrup or honey bottle. They are pure sugar and can cause sudden spikes, which makes me worry about long-term complications. Please be very careful and maybe check your sugar immediately if you do consume them.

I tried substituting sugar with organic honey for months, thinking it was a healthy natural remedy, but my HbA1c did not improve. Let's be practical, sugar is sugar whether it comes from a bee or a tree. It is better to minimize both.

At this age, my doctor has basically banned anything that tastes remotely good! Maple syrup and honey both will shoot your glucose straight to the moon. Better to sweeten your life with good conversation instead of these syrups.

Both honey and maple syrup have high natural sugars that can disturb your body's balance. Practicing regular pranayama helps with overall insulin sensitivity, but we must still feed our bodies simple, unsweetened foods to maintain inner peace and stable health.
