Can diabetics eat kiwi?

Kiwi is getting more common in the market these days, and it looks very nutritious. My sister has diabetes, and we are always looking for healthy fruit options for her. Can diabetics eat kiwi, and if so, is there a recommended portion?

Yes, kiwi is actually a very good fruit choice for diabetics. It has a low glycemic index and is rich in fiber and vitamin C, so it won't spike your sugar levels quickly. You can comfortably enjoy one small kiwi during the day. Take care.

Kiwi fruit is highly recommended for glycemic control due to its high soluble fiber content and low glycemic index of around 50. This means it releases sugars slowly into the bloodstream. However, individual metabolic responses vary, so it is always best to check with your physician regarding your specific daily fruit intake.

I was just reading up on this because my uncle loves kiwi. It turns out kiwi has an enzyme called actinidin and is super rich in water, which helps slow down the rate at which glucose is absorbed. It seems like one of the safest fruits out there for diabetics, which is pretty cool!

I track all my meals on a continuous glucose monitor (CGM), and eating one medium kiwi barely causes a blip on my chart. It is packed with fiber and keeps glycemic load very low. I usually slice it up into my Greek yogurt for a perfect post-workout snack.

I used to panic and completely avoid all fruits, thinking even a bite would ruin my HbA1c. But my nutritionist introduced me to kiwi, and I found out it is totally safe and normal to eat one daily. My sugar levels have remained perfectly fine, so please don't stress over it.

Kiwi is very good and natural, it helps with immunity and digestion too. Eating one fresh kiwi in the morning is a great habit for diabetes. But remember, if your fasting sugar is consistently high or you feel extreme weakness, please don't just rely on fruits and consult your doctor immediately.
