Can diabetics eat ice cream?
It's so hot these days, and I'm really craving some ice cream. But since my diabetes diagnosis, I've avoided all sweets. Can diabetics eat any type of ice cream, or are even the 'sugar-free' ones still risky?

I can only share what works for me. Whenever I eat regular ice cream, my sugar levels instantly cross 250, so I have completely stopped it. Now, if I have a strong craving, I occasionally buy sugar-free high-protein ice cream and eat just a tiny scoop, which doesn't seem to spike me as much.
Let's be real, standard ice cream is loaded with sugar and fats, which is a disaster for diabetes. If you want it, go for the diabetic-friendly or keto versions available in the market, and keep a strict eye on the portion. Don't go finishing the whole tub just because it says 'no added sugar'.
It is really difficult to completely give up things we love, especially ice cream. Regular ice cream has too much sugar, so it is safer to avoid it or look for stevia-sweetened options. Please take care and try to manage those sweet cravings gently.
Bhaiya, ice cream mein toh bahut zyada cheeni aur malai hoti hai, sugar badh jayegi. Agar mitha khane ka mann ho toh ghar pe feeki kheer bana lo thodi si, par bazar ki ice cream se door hi raho toh accha hai. Apni sehat ka dhyan rakho.
I was actually researching this for my grandfather yesterday! It turns out the fat in ice cream actually slows down sugar absorption slightly compared to soda, but the overall sugar load is still too high. Has anyone tried making banana-based nice creams at home instead?
With my insulin-resistant PCOS, eating regular ice cream triggers terrible sugar crashes and cravings later. I wouldn't recommend regular ice cream to anyone managing diabetes either, as it causes massive insulin spikes. If you must have it, maybe try a tiny portion of unsweetened almond milk ice cream instead.
