Can diabetics eat corn tortillas?
We sometimes make Mexican food at home, and I love corn tortillas. My husband is diabetic and is very strict with his diet. Can he eat corn tortillas, or should we look for alternatives?

Bhai, corn tortillas are like our makki ki roti. They have a good amount of starch, so eating too many can raise your sugar. Just have one small roti with lots of green leafy vegetables to keep it safe and healthy.
I bought some corn tortillas hoping they would be a safe substitute for wheat, but my sugar reading was quite high this morning. Has anyone else faced this? Maybe I should stick to plain multigrain roti instead, I feel so lost.
Beta, maize (makki) has a warm nature and is good in winters, but it is high in carbohydrates. For diabetes, it is much safer to eat rotis made of barley (jau) or chickpeas (besan). If you eat corn tortillas, keep the quantity very small.
Haan yaar, corn tortillas are basically makki ki roti only, na. They are slightly better than maida wraps, but still have high carbs. Keep the portion size to just one, and load it up with paneer and veggies to balance it.
Corn tortillas generally have a lower glycemic index than flour tortillas, which is good. But portion control is key. Keep it to one or two small ones, and make sure they aren't fried. Always discuss your daily carb targets with your doctor.
