Can diabetics eat coconut palm sugar?

My wife recently started using coconut palm sugar for our chai, saying it's healthier than regular chini. But my sugar levels have been a bit up lately. I'm wondering if it's safe for me to have it, given I'm diabetic.

Please don't fall for these alternative sugar trends blindly. I once ignored my rising sugars thinking organic sweeteners were safe, and ended up with severe complications. Please get your HbA1c checked and ask your doctor before substituting any sugar.

Don't let the marketing fool you. Coconut palm sugar still has almost the same calories and carbs as regular white sugar, even if the GI is slightly lower. It's safer to avoid it entirely and stick to what your doctor recommended for your daily diet.

I bought a pack of organic coconut palm sugar thinking it was healthy, but my morning readings went up the next day. Has anyone else experienced sudden sugar spikes after using it? I am too scared to use it again now.

Honestly, coconut sugar is so expensive and not even worth the risk for diabetics. Instead of spending on fancy organic sugars, it is better to budget for regular blood glucose test strips. Just use minimal normal sweetener if absolutely necessary.

I manage both thyroid and borderline diabetes, so I have to be very careful. Coconut sugar still causes spikes in my experience. It is best to do regular fasting tests and discuss sweet alternatives directly with your endocrinologist.
