Can diabetics eat cashews?

My doctor advised me to include healthy fats and protein from nuts. Cashews are my favorite. Can diabetics eat cashews, and if so, what would be a safe portion size?

My father was recently diagnosed with diabetes and I am still trying to learn what is safe. I read somewhere that dry fruits are good, but is it okay to give him cashews every day, or are almonds a safer option for him?

Yes, you can eat them in moderation. Just make sure they are plain, raw, or dry roasted, and not fried or coated with salt.

Dry fruits are excellent for health, and 4-5 unsalted cashews daily can give you good fats. But remember, if you have high cholesterol or sudden chest heaviness, don't rely on home diets and go see a doctor immediately.

Haan bilkul kha sakte hain, par woh kaju barfi mat samajh lena haan! Plain kaju khao, thoda dry roast karke snack ki tarah mast lagta hai aur sugar bhi control mein rehti hai. Bas limit mein khana na.

I totally get it, managing diabetes means constantly questioning every single thing we put in our mouth, which is so tiring. Cashews are actually fine because they have healthy fats, just keep the portion to a small handful.

As vegetarians, dry fruits are our main source of healthy fats, but cashews do have more carbs than almonds or walnuts. I suggest keeping it to 4 or 5 pieces maximum per day and always tracking your daily calorie intake.
