Can diabetics eat beans and rice?

My mother is diabetic, and I'm always looking for healthy meal options for her. We often make dal chawal at home, but I'm unsure if combining beans and rice is advisable for her sugar levels. Can diabetics eat them together?

Yes, you can eat them together. Just make sure the ratio of beans is much higher than the rice to keep the fiber high.

A simple meal of beans and brown rice is very calming for the body and easy to digest. Eating mindfully, chewing slowly, and doing a light Vajrasana posture for ten minutes after eating helps the body process the natural starches beautifully.

Beta, our traditional meals always balanced grains with lentils or beans for a reason. Cooking your rice with a spoonful of fenugreek seeds or eating a warm cup of warm water with cinnamon after your meal can help digestion. Just ensure you don't overeat the rice portion.

Managing both thyroid and sugar means my metabolism can be quite sluggish, making carbs tricky. I eat beans and rice occasionally, but I always make sure to schedule my routine blood tests to see if my daily diet needs adjustments. Getting professional feedback from your doctor is always the safest route.

Of course you can have beans and rice, but don't pile up the rice like a mountain on your plate! Keep the rice portion looking like a small hill and the beans like a deep lake around it. A happy compromise for your tastebuds and your health.

I absolutely love rajma chawal, which is basically beans and rice! What works for me is taking a very small portion of brown basmati rice and overloading it with double the amount of beans. It satisfies my cravings without sending my sugar levels through the roof.
