Can diabetics eat apples at night?

My grandmother, who has diabetes, sometimes feels hungry late at night. She likes to snack on fruit. Can diabetics eat apples at night, or is it better to avoid fruit before bed due to sugar?

My teenage daughter gets hungry around bedtime, so we sometimes give her half an apple along with a few walnuts. The healthy fats in the walnuts help slow down the absorption of the fruit's sugar even further.

I totally get it, those late-night sweet cravings are so hard to control when you are trying to manage your sugar. Eating a few slices of apple is a much better choice than reaching for biscuits, just keep the portion small.

My endocrinologist advised me not to eat fruits late at night because our metabolism slows down, which can lead to slightly higher fasting blood sugar in the morning. If you must eat it, try to have it at least two hours before sleeping.

I used to eat fruits at night, but noticed my morning readings were slightly high. Now, if I feel hungry before bed, I prefer drinking a warm cup of turmeric milk instead of eating fruits. It is much gentler on the system.

I always worry that eating any fruit after sunset will spike my fasting levels. If you do eat an apple at night, maybe just have half of it and walk around the house for 10 minutes to help your body process it better.
