Can diabetics drink whiskey?

My husband enjoys a peg of whiskey now and then. I was recently diagnosed with diabetes and wanted to know if I can also join him sometimes. Is whiskey safe for diabetics to drink?

While whiskey itself has no carbs, drinking can really disrupt your food choices and lead to late-night snacking on heavy fried foods. If you decide to drink, make sure you stick to healthy, light vegetarian snacks like roasted chana or paneer tikka instead of junk.

I totally understand the anxiety you might be feeling when trying to enjoy a simple drink with friends while worrying about your health. It is very stressful. Just know that it is manageable, you just need to be extra cautious and plan your meals.

Ji bilkul pee sakte hain, but don't use it as an excuse to finish the whole bottle! Stick to single measures with soda or water, and please leave the sweet cola bottle far away. Your pancreas will thank you for keeping it light!

I have a busy corporate lifestyle and social drinks are common. The trick is to have one or maximum two pegs, mixed with plain water, and never on an empty stomach. Make sure you check your sugar before sleeping because alcohol can cause late-night drops.

Hey, it is okay to have a drink once in a while, just don't stress yourself out too much about it. Just promise me you won't drink on an empty stomach and will keep checking your blood sugar levels. Keep some sweets nearby in case your sugar drops in the middle of the night.

I have been diabetic for 15 years and still enjoy my weekend drink. The rule is simple: buy a reliable glucometer, check your levels before you pour a glass, and never drink if your sugar is already running too low or too high.

I literally spend hours researching every single ingredient before I let my husband touch any alcohol. If you do have a small glass of whiskey, please make sure someone around you knows you are diabetic. If your sugar drops suddenly, you need to have a quick source of glucose ready.

Limit mein peene se kuch nahi hota, ho na? Just plain water ya soda ke saath lo, extra sugar waale mixers mat lena. Aur please drinking se pehle acche se dinner kar lena so that sugar level stable rahe.

Dealing with metabolic issues is so tricky, I face it with PCOS too. If you are having whiskey, make sure it is just a small quantity. It can affect your liver and insulin response, so keeping it very occasional is the safest way to go.

Yes, you can have it occasionally but just don't mix it with sweet cold drinks. Always keep an eye on your glucose levels after drinking.

I used to drink heavily thinking whiskey has no sugar, and I ignored my rising fasting numbers for a year. That ended up causing mild neuropathy in my feet, which I really regret now. Please get your HbA1c checked first and talk to your doctor before touch any alcohol.

I am no expert, but I can tell you what happens with me. Whenever I have a peg or two of whiskey, my sugar levels actually drop slightly the next morning. So I always make sure I eat a proper high-fiber meal before going to bed.
