Can diabetic people eat blueberries?

My granddaughter keeps telling me to eat blueberries because they are superfoods and good for health. I have diabetes, so I am always careful about what fruits I eat. Can diabetic people eat blueberries, or will they increase my sugar levels?

Blueberries are actually great! They have a low glycemic index of around 53 and are packed with fiber. My tracker shows zero abnormal spikes when I eat a small bowl post-workout, but definitely track your own response.

While blueberries are rich in antioxidants and generally considered diabetic-friendly, individual tolerance varies. It is always best to discuss portion sizes with your diabetologist or clinical nutritionist to align with your medical plan.

Fruits like jamun and blueberries are very good for health in moderation. I eat a handful of blueberries in the morning with my oats. Just make sure you are not buying the sweetened packaged ones from the market.

Don't worry, you don't have to give up all tasty things. Blueberries are actually one of the safest fruits you can have because they are low in sugar. Just keep the portion small and you should be perfectly fine.

My doctor told me blueberries are good, but finding fresh ones that don't cost a bomb in India is the real struggle! If you can afford them daily, go ahead, they are safe. Otherwise, jamun is our local savior!
