Can diabetes make you blind?

My grandmother, who had diabetes for many years, eventually lost her eyesight. I'm worried about this as I also have diabetes. Can diabetes actually lead to complete blindness?

Yes, it can cause diabetic retinopathy if ignored. Please make sure you get a dilated eye exam done at least once every year.

My vision got very blurry last month due to high sugar levels, and I was terrified. But once my doctor adjusted my insulin and my sugar came back to normal, my vision cleared up completely. Definitely get your eyes checked by a specialist.

If sugars remain high constantly, it affects eye health. Along with your regular doctor visits, practicing gentle eye exercises like Trataka and deep breathing can help reduce strain and keep you healthy. Stay disciplined with your daily routine.

Uncontrolled diabetes can definitely damage the blood vessels in the eyes. Just like I do regular blood tests for my thyroid, you must schedule regular eye exams and keep your HbA1c in check. Prevention is always better.

I ignored my blurry vision for months thinking it was just age, and now I have permanent damage in my left eye. Please don't be careless like me. Go see an ophthalmologist and get your eyes checked immediately.

It sounds very scary but don't worry too much! If you keep your blood sugar well under control, your eyes will stay perfectly fine. Just stay positive, eat healthy, and do your yearly eye checkups on time.
