Can dentures get cavities?

For a few years now, I've had my dentures and try to keep them clean. My grandson asked me if dentures can get cavities like real teeth. I thought not, since they aren't real, but now I'm second-guessing myself.

Since dentures are made of acrylic or porcelain, they cannot get cavities because bacteria can't decay those materials. However, you should ask your dentist clearly about how to clean them, as improper cleaning can lead to infections in the gums underneath.

I was actually panicking when my mom got dentures, thinking we'd have to keep checking them for cavities. But it turns out plastic teeth can't rot! It's such a relief. Just clean them with a soft brush and denture cleanser regularly.

The best part about dentures is that they won't rot from eating too many sweets! But seriously, though they can't get cavities, food particles can get stuck under them and cause bad breath. So rinse them well after enjoying your meals.

Don't worry, artificial teeth cannot decay or get cavities. However, plaque can still build up on them just like natural teeth, which can irritate your gums. Just make sure to soak them overnight and clean your gums gently.

No, they don't get cavities since they are artificial. But as someone managing diabetes, I must warn you that poor denture hygiene can lead to fungal infections in the mouth, especially if your blood sugars are high. Keep them clean and keep a check on your sugar levels.
