Can dehydration cause leg pain?

After my evening walks, I sometimes get really bad cramps and aches in my legs, and I usually realize I haven't had much water all day. My fitness trainer mentioned that hydration is key for muscles. Can dehydration actually cause leg pain and cramps?

Beta, when the body does not get enough water, the muscles dry out and start cramping, which causes a lot of pain in the legs. You can drink warm water mixed with a little rock salt, or have fresh coconut water. It helps soothe the nerves naturally.

I literally recovered from severe calf pain last week. I was barely drinking water during a hectic project and my legs started cramping badly. Once I started drinking 3 liters of water with electrolytes, the pain vanished in two days.

Totally agree. Dehydration causes electrolyte imbalance, leading to severe leg cramps. Drinking some coconut water works wonders.

Yes, lack of water and electrolytes is a very common cause of leg cramps and muscle pain. Try to rest and drink a glass of water with a pinch of salt, it really helps.

My daughter used to wake up crying with severe leg cramps at night. The doctor told us she was simply dehydrated after playing in the sun. Now, I make sure she drinks coconut water or glucose every afternoon, and the leg pain has completely stopped.

I deal with thyroid issues and find that dehydration makes my muscle and leg pain much worse. It is always a good idea to keep your hydration high, but also get your thyroid and vitamin D levels checked if the pain continues.

Haan na, dehydration directly causes those painful calf cramps. When there is less water, muscles contract and cause terrible leg pain. Just drink some warm water or electoral, you will get relief soon, ok?
