Can dehydration cause joint pain?

My knees have been aching more than usual these days, and my friend suggested it might be because I'm not drinking enough water. She said our joints need water to stay lubricated. Can dehydration actually lead to more joint pain?

Hey, don't stress too much about it! Our joints actually need a lot of water to stay lubricated, so when you are dry, they start rubbing together and aching. Just keep chugging water today and you'll feel the difference very soon, trust me.

Yes, absolutely! Since joint cartilage is made of about 80% water, dehydration immediately reduces lubrication. My fitness app always sends me a hydration reminder because keeping water levels high is crucial for keeping joints smooth and pain-free.

With PCOS, I already deal with random inflammation, and not drinking enough water makes my joints ache like crazy. While dehydration is a major cause of joint pain because cartilage loses its moisture, it is always good to consult a doctor if the pain doesn't go away.

Joint pain can definitely happen when your body lacks water. A very practical and free solution is to keep a copper bottle filled with water on your table and finish it twice a day. It worked wonders for my knee stiffness.

I totally understand how worrying it is when your joints start aching out of nowhere, it used to make me so anxious. But honestly, dehydration is a very common trigger because our joints lose their cushioning when we are dry. Drink some water and try to relax, you are going to be okay.

I manage thyroid issues, which already causes joint stiffness, and dehydration only worsens the pain. It's really important to keep drinking water, but please also get your thyroid levels checked regularly just in case that is contributing to your joint pain.

Please don't just assume it is only dehydration and ignore it like I did. I kept drinking water thinking my knee pain would go away, but it turned out to be uric acid buildup. Go get a proper blood test and consult your doctor.
