Can dehydration cause high fever?

My toddler was playing out in the sun and developed a really high fever quickly, but doesn't have a cold or cough. He absolutely hates drinking water. Could severe dehydration actually be the sole reason for such a high temperature?

Beta, when there is no water in the body, it cannot sweat to release internal heat, so the temperature climbs up quickly. Drinking barley water or a light dry ginger decoction can help soothe the body. But a very high fever needs a doctor's care, so do not delay.

Yes, extreme dehydration can spike your body temperature significantly. Keep a bottle of water or ORS at your desk and sip regularly throughout your shift. If the temperature crosses 101, skip the home remedies and visit a clinic immediately.

Hey, don't panic. Dehydration can definitely make your body heat shoot up because your cooling system shuts down. Try putting a cool, wet cloth on your forehead and drink some electrolyte water slowly. If it doesn't come down soon, we should get you to a doctor, okay?

My son had a very high fever last summer just because he refused to drink water while playing outside. The pediatrician told us it was heat exhaustion and dehydration. I gave him continuous sips of electoral water and cold sponge baths, which helped, but always keep your doctor informed.

I recently had a sudden high temperature after being out in the sun all day without water, and it scared me so much. Has anyone else experienced a high fever just from dehydration? Did drinking water make it go away, or did you need medicines?

I completely understand how terrifying it is when your body temperature suddenly shoots up. It is totally normal to feel anxious about it, but yes, dehydration can absolutely cause a high fever because your body can't cool itself. Take some deep breaths, sip some water, and consult a doctor to feel safe.

I have tried everything from coriander water to coconut water when dealing with heat-related fevers. Dehydration stops your body from sweating, which causes the heat to build up inside. Hydration is the best remedy, but if the fever is very high, please see a doctor immediately.
