Can dehydration cause fever?

My son came home from playing outside feeling very hot, but he doesn't seem to have any other sickness symptoms. He barely drank any water all day in this heat. Can not drinking enough water actually make someone develop a fever?

Yes, absolutely. When your body is severely short of fluids, it can't sweat to release heat, which naturally makes your temperature climb. Make some simple ORS at home and drink it slowly, but keep a thermometer handy to monitor the temperature.

As someone managing high BP, I know how fast dehydration messes up your system and raises body heat. It puts a lot of stress on your heart too. Please keep your hydration levels up, avoid salty junk, and definitely get a checkup done if the fever doesn't come down.

Honestly, at this age, even forgetting to drink water for half a day makes my body act like it's fighting a battle. Yes, severe dehydration can mimic or cause a mild fever because your cooling system goes on strike. Sip some water, lie down, and give your poor body a break.

Instead of running to a private clinic and spending thousands on blood tests immediately, try drinking plenty of water and ORS first. A basic fever check is cheap, but unnecessary lab tests aren't. Give your body 24 hours of proper hydration and see if the temperature drops naturally.

When my mother had a high temperature, we went straight to our family doctor at the hospital. He clearly explained that dehydration can cause a spike in body temperature, but a proper checkup is needed to rule out infections. Please consult a qualified doctor rather than guessing.

Beta, in our days we always kept barley water (jau ka paani) ready during summers to prevent dehydration fever. It cools the stomach beautifully. Drink simple fluids and rest, but if the fever rises high, please consult a doctor.

The body is made of five elements, and water is crucial for keeping our inner fire balanced. When water is low, this heat rises, causing what feels like a fever. Practice sheetali pranayama and drink simple, room-temperature water to cool down your system naturally.

Haan na, dehydration physically heats up the body so much. When there is no water to sweat out, temperature rises like a fever. Please drink some fresh nimbu paani or coconut water right away, ok?
