Can dehydration cause elevated liver enzymes?

My recent blood test showed slightly elevated liver enzymes, and the doctor asked if I drink enough water. I'm usually quite bad with my water intake. Is there a connection between being dehydrated and higher liver enzyme levels?

Being diabetic, I keep a very close eye on my lab reports. My doctor once explained that severe dehydration can concentrate the blood, making enzyme levels like SGOT and SGPT look artificially high on tests. Keep yourself hydrated, avoid sugary drinks or heavy juices, and get re-tested after consulting your doctor.

Yes, the liver needs plenty of water to flush out toxins properly. Drinking fresh butter milk with a pinch of cumin powder or simple warm water is very good for cooling the system. But liver matters should not be ignored, so please show your reports to a doctor.

An LFT test costs around 500 to 800 rupees in most labs, so don't jump to conclusions without proper reports. If you were severely dehydrated during the blood draw, the results can vary. Better to hydrate well for a couple of days and get a repeat test done from a budget-friendly certified lab.

Yes, lack of water can put stress on your liver and cause a temporary spike in those enzymes. Please don't worry too much, just focus on drinking enough water and consult your doctor to be safe.

You can try drinking fresh coconut water and warm ginger water to help your body flush out toxins naturally. However, elevated liver enzymes can also indicate deeper issues that need proper diagnosis. Please visit a physician if you are also feeling constantly fatigued, nauseous, or have abdominal pain.

Please do not take this lightly or assume it is just dehydration. I once ignored slightly high liver numbers thinking it was just heat and lack of water, and it turned into a major issue later. Get a proper liver function test and consult a specialist immediately.

I see this in the fitness community often when guys go on extreme dry cuts or don't hydrate during heavy training. Dehydration stresses all your organs, including the liver, which can bump up those enzyme numbers. Drink your fluids, keep your meals clean, and let your body recover properly.
