Can dehydration cause dandruff?

Been noticing a lot of dry flakes on my scalp recently, and my hair feels really dry too. Someone at the salon mentioned it might be due to not drinking enough water. Could dehydration actually be a reason for dandruff?

I can only speak from my own experience, but my scalp gets incredibly dry and flaky whenever I dry out. Once I started drinking a solid 3 liters of water daily, those dry flakes reduced significantly. I can't say if it's medical dandruff, but hydration definitely saved my scalp.

Haan, bilkul link toh hai hi na! When body is dehydrated, dry scalp automatically happens and then it looks exactly like dandruff. Just drink lots of water and coconut water, skin and hair will thank you, trust me.

Yes, totally! Less water means super dry skin, even on your head. Time to track your water intake and keep that scalp happy. Hydration is key!

Don't blindly believe all these internet theories connecting everything to water. Dandruff is mostly caused by a yeast-like fungus or oily skin, not just simple dehydration. Better to see a proper dermatologist to understand what's actually causing your flakes instead of just chugging water.

Before you spend thousands on expensive anti-dandruff shampoos and dermatologists, try the cheapest solution first. Drink 8-10 glasses of water daily for two weeks, it costs literally nothing. If it doesn't get better, then you can plan a budget for a clinic visit.

Beta, when the body does not get enough fluids, the scalp loses its natural moisture. Along with drinking sufficient water, you can gently massage a few drops of warm coconut oil mixed with a little lemon juice on your scalp. Do it lightly once a week, it helps soothe the dryness.

Hey, don't stress too much about it! A dehydrated body definitely dries out your scalp, which makes those annoying flakes show up. Just keep a water bottle next to you all day and keep sipping, you'll see a difference soon.
