Can dark people get skin cancer?

I always thought skin cancer was mostly a problem for people with fair skin who get sunburned easily. But recently, I read something that made me wonder. Can people with dark skin also get skin cancer, or is it very rare for them?

In our days, we used to apply sandalwood paste to soothe the skin after a long day in the sun. But remember, any changing black spot or mole on the skin should not be ignored, even for our skin tone.

Melanin is like our built-in bodyguard, but even bodyguards need a break sometimes! Dark skin definitely has better protection, but we aren't completely immune, so don't throw away your sunscreen yet.

Please never assume dark skin is safe. I ignored a strange, growing spot on my foot for two years thinking Indians don't get skin cancer, and it turned out to be a major issue. Get any weird moles checked immediately.

Yes, they absolutely can. While melanin provides some natural SPF, skin cancer often goes undetected in darker skin tones because people assume they are safe. A regular skin checkup with a dermatologist is always wise.

Bhaiya, dhoop toh sabko barabar lagti hai. Hamare yahan log sochte hain ki kaale rang par dhoop ka asar nahi hota, par bimari kisi ko bhi ho sakti hai. Dhoop mein zyada na rahein.
