Can dandruff cause alopecia?

I have been dealing with severe dandruff for a long time, and I'm also noticing more hair fall than usual. My aunt mentioned that dandruff can sometimes lead to hair loss conditions. Can prolonged dandruff cause alopecia?

I used to panic like crazy thinking every white flake meant I was going to lose all my hair. My doctor reassured me that simple dandruff doesn't cause alopecia. Once I used a medicated shampoo for a few weeks, the flakes stopped and my hair is totally fine.

Hey, I totally get why you are worried! I had severe dandruff last winter and noticed a lot of hair fall while washing. It wasn't alopecia, just temporary hair shedding due to an itchy scalp. Using a gentle anti-dandruff shampoo fixed it for me.

Bro, same here! I was stressed out thinking my dandruff was making me go bald during exams. Actually, standard dandruff doesn't cause alopecia, but scratching your head too hard can break hair roots. Just don't scratch it too much!

Hi! Mild dandruff doesn't cause baldness or alopecia. However, severe untreated conditions like seborrheic dermatitis can inflame hair follicles and cause temporary hair thinning. Try using a ketoconazole shampoo twice a week.

Please don't ignore it if you are seeing patchy bald spots. I thought my hair fall was just due to dandruff and ignored it for months, but it was actually early-stage alopecia areata. I highly regret not seeing a dermatologist sooner.

My son had severe flaky patches and hair shedding last year. We took him to a dermatologist who clarified it wasn't alopecia, just scalp inflammation. After a few weeks of using a prescribed anti-fungal lotion, his hair grew back perfectly.

Hey, don't stress too much! Dandruff is super common and won't make your hair fall out permanently. Just wash your hair regularly with a decent anti-dandruff shampoo and you'll be totally fine, trust me!

Let's be clear: dandruff and alopecia are completely different conditions. Dandruff is a superficial scalp skin issue, while alopecia is an autoimmune or genetic hair loss condition. Treating dandruff won't cure alopecia, and vice versa.

Dandruff itself doesn't trigger alopecia. To keep your scalp healthy, try staying active with a daily walk or light cardio to boost blood circulation to your hair roots. Healthy blood flow works wonders for hair growth.

Hello, I am new to dealing with this and got really scared reading about alopecia. Is there a specific oil or shampoo we should avoid when having dandruff so it doesn't get worse?

I totally get it, seeing hair fall along with dandruff can be incredibly scary and stressful. But please don't lose hope. Most dandruff-related hair shedding is completely reversible once you treat the scalp irritation.

Dandruff won't cause baldness unless there's a severe underlying issue. Focus on your nutrition, eat enough protein, and wash your hair properly after sweating at the gym. A clean scalp and a good diet keep hair roots strong.
