Can dairy cause kidney stones?

My father has had kidney stones multiple times, and he loves his paneer and milk. Someone at work was saying that too much dairy can lead to kidney stones. Is there any truth to this, can dairy actually cause them?

I can only share what happened to me. I used to think dairy causes kidney stones because of calcium, but when I had a stone last year, my doctor actually told me that normal dairy intake helps bind oxalates in the gut and prevents stones. I didn't stop my daily curd.

Actually yaar, it is a huge myth that calcium in milk causes stones. My doctor told me that if you don't take enough calcium, your body absorbs more oxalates and that causes stones! So don't stop dairy unless a doc specifically tells you to.

Oh god, please don't tell me I have to give up paneer and cheese burst pizzas! Thankfully, from what I read, moderate dairy is perfectly fine. Just make sure you are drinking enough water throughout the day to flush everything out.

Hey there! Medically speaking, normal dietary calcium from dairy is highly recommended to prevent calcium-oxalate stones. It's the synthetic calcium pills taken on an empty stomach that increase the risk. Drink plenty of fluids and eat balanced meals.

I completely understand the anxiety of worrying that what you eat might cause painful kidney stones. I used to obsess over every glass of milk. But rest assured, dietary dairy is actually protective, so you can ease your mind.

Listen, don't stop eating paneer or drinking milk thinking it will cause stones. That's not how it works. Drink 3 liters of water daily and cut down on excessive salt and junk food instead, that is the real culprit.

No, dairy does not cause kidney stones. It's a common misconception. In fact, getting enough dietary calcium from milk and yogurt is clinically proven to lower stone risk. Just focus on hydration and reducing high-oxalate foods like spinach and nuts.

I have seen many people in this group ask about this. Dairy calcium is actually your friend when it comes to kidney stones because it binds with oxalates in your food. Just ensure you keep your salt intake low and stay well hydrated.

As vegetarians, dairy is our primary source of calcium and protein. Dietary calcium from milk or curd actually reduces the risk of kidney stones by blocking oxalate absorption. Just avoid heavy calcium supplements without medical supervision.

Drinking lots of lemon water and coconut water daily is excellent for preventing kidney stones. Moderate dairy intake is generally safe and won't cause stones. However, if you have severe side pain or blood in urine, please see a doctor immediately.
