Can crystal light prevent kidney stones?

My brother suffers from recurring kidney stones, and he's looking for ways to prevent them. Someone suggested that drinking Crystal Light might actually help prevent kidney stones. Is there any truth to this, or is it just a myth?

In my experience, the only true way to prevent kidney stones is drinking plenty of plain, clean water throughout the day. These fancy powdered drinks might help you drink more fluids if you dislike plain water, but they are not a medical cure. Stick to natural hydration.

I have tried many home remedies for kidney health, and honestly, fresh lemon juice in warm water is much better because it contains natural citrate which helps break down stones. Crystal Light has artificial citric acid, which might help slightly by encouraging you to drink water, but natural is always safer.

Since I manage diabetes, I look closely at ingredients. Some of these sugar-free drinks have citrate, which doctors say can help prevent certain stones. However, the artificial preservatives are not great for overall health, so consult your doctor before using them as a preventive measure.

Don't stress too much about finding a magic drink to prevent stones, bro! The main trick is just staying super hydrated. If adding a little Crystal Light helps you drink 3 liters of water instead of 1, then go for it, but don't overthink it as a cure.

I was actually researching this online because my dad gets stones often, and some forums say the citrate in it helps. But then others say the sodium content in some flavors might counteract that. It's pretty confusing, so it’s probably best to ask a proper doctor.

While Crystal Light contains citric acid—which can theoretically help inhibit stone formation—it also contains artificial additives. If you are prone to renal stones, it is highly recommended to consult a urologist. They can recommend clinically proven lifestyle and dietary adjustments based on your stone type.

Excuse me, I am quite new to learning about kidney health. Does this mean any drink with citric acid can help? Or is it safer to just stick to normal lemons from the market? I would love to know what doctors usually suggest for this.
