Can creatine cause kidney stones?

I've been using creatine for a few months now, and I generally feel fine. However, a friend shared some concerns, mentioning that creatine can lead to kidney stones. I just wanted to verify if there's any risk of it causing kidney stones, as I want to avoid any health problems.

I started taking creatine last week and now I'm constantly worried about getting kidney stones because my uncle had them. Has anyone else felt a mild lower back discomfort when starting, or is it just my anxiety playing tricks on me?

Humare ghar mein bhi bache gym jaate hain aur humesha dhyan rakhte hain ki paani khoob piyein. Creatine se pathri tabhi ho sakti hai jab aap bilkul paani na piyein. Roz 3-4 litre paani peeyo, sab theek rahega beta.

My 20-year-old son wanted to take creatine, and I was terrified of kidney damage or stones. We consulted a urologist who assured us that if there's no pre-existing kidney disease, creatine doesn't cause stones. I just make sure he drinks plenty of water throughout the day.

I log my daily water intake on my Apple Watch to ensure I hit 3.5 litres while on creatine. There is no clinical data linking standard creatine doses to kidney stones in healthy people. Just track your hydration levels and you'll be completely fine.

At 50, my body produces enough cracking sounds on its own without needing creatine help! But jokes aside, my gym-going nephew takes it and his kidneys are fine. Just don't treat water like it's an optional luxury and you will avoid the stones.

I have seen this question pop up so many times in our health groups. Creatine itself doesn't cause kidney stones, but chronic dehydration while taking it can definitely increase the risk. Keep a bottle handy and drink water consistently.

In our younger days, we relied on natural strength, but I understand modern supplements are popular now. If you are taking creatine, make sure to drink barley water or coconut water occasionally to keep your kidneys flushed and cool naturally.
