Can cramps cause vomiting?

During my periods, sometimes my cramps get so unbelievably painful that I also start feeling really nauseous and occasionally even vomit. My friends say it happens to them too. I'm wondering if severe menstrual cramps can actually cause vomiting.

If you are having severe abdominal cramps that lead to vomiting, please get your blood pressure checked. Intense pain can cause your BP to shoot up, making the nausea and vomiting worse.

I used to panic and think I had a major medical emergency whenever period cramps made me throw up. But my doctor assured me it's quite common when pain levels are high. It's manageable, so try not to worry.

Yes, severe menstrual cramps can definitely trigger vomiting because of high prostaglandin levels or intense pain. I deal with this sometimes, but it's always best to consult a gynecologist to rule out cysts.

Agreed, extreme pain from cramps often triggers a gag reflex. Drinking warm ginger water can help ease the stomach.

Yes, when cramps are very severe, the body's natural response to extreme pain can cause nausea and vomiting. Please rest and keep yourself hydrated.

I got severe stomach cramps after some bad street food last month and ended up vomiting a lot. It is definitely a common reaction when your gut is in spasm.
