Can cracking your neck cause a stroke?

Sometimes, to relieve stiffness, I crack my neck, and my mother always gets very worried, saying it could cause a stroke. This scares me a lot. Is it true that cracking your neck forcefully can actually lead to a stroke or other serious issues?

I used to panic so much because I read online that cracking my neck could tear an artery and cause a stroke. But my chiropractor reassured me that normal, gentle neck cracking is extremely unlikely to cause anything like that.

True, the risk is extremely rare, but it is still better to avoid forceful self-cracking just to be safe.

Beta, neck cracking is not a good habit. Instead of twisting your neck forcefully, massage it gently with warm mustard oil or do light neck rotations in the morning to relieve the stiffness safely.

Humare yahan toh log aaram ke liye garden chatkate hain, par humesha dhyan se karna chahiye. Zyada zor se jhatka mat do nahi toh nas khinch sakti hai, aaram se karo.

While the absolute statistical risk of a vertebral artery dissection causing a stroke is very low, forceful manual neck manipulation should be avoided. It is best to consult a certified physiotherapist for chronic stiffness.

My son has this habit of cracking his neck constantly when studying. I took him to an osteopath who said gentle cracking is fine, but forceful, sudden twists can be risky, so we should discourage them.
