Can cracking knuckles give you arthritis?

My father always warned me that cracking my knuckles too much will give me arthritis when I'm older. I do it quite often, actually. Is there any scientific evidence that regularly cracking your knuckles can actually lead to developing arthritis?

Agreed, it's just a myth. There is no scientific link between knuckle cracking and arthritis.

Bro, my mom has been warning me about this since I was ten, but my doctor friend said it's just gas bubbles popping in the joints. It doesn't cause arthritis at all.

This is a very common old wives' tale in Indian households! Research actually shows that cracking knuckles does not cause arthritis, though doing it too vigorously might weaken your grip strength over time.

Bilkul nahi yaar. Yeh bas dadi-nani ka nuskha hai hume aawaz karne se rokne ke liye. Haddi nahi ghisti isse, par haan, bar-bar karne se ungliyo mein thodi sujan aa sakti hai.

No, it is scientifically proven to be a myth. You can crack them without worrying about arthritis.
