Can cps be called for cavities?

There's a family I know where the children have really severe, untreated cavities, and their parents don't seem to be doing anything about it. I'm really concerned for the kids' health. In India, can Child Protective Services be contacted for cases where children are suffering from dental neglect like severe cavities?

No, CPS won't get called just because a kid has cavities; lots of kids get them. But if a parent completely ignores severe dental pain and refuses to take the child to a dentist for months, that can be seen as medical neglect.

To be safe, always keep your child's dental checkup records clear. If someone complains, having proof that you are actively treating the cavities will protect you from any false neglect claims.

Legally, regular cavities are just a pediatric health issue, not a crime. However, if a school nurse finds a child with rotting teeth in severe pain and the parents refuse treatment, they are mandated to report it.

My son had four cavities last year due to milk teeth issues. Don't worry, as long as you are taking them to a dentist and getting fillings done, no one is going to call anyone. Just get them treated.

In our days, kids ate sweets and got cavities all the time, and we just took them to the dentist. Nobody calls authorities over normal cavities unless there is extreme, visible abuse or neglect.
