Can cpap cause vomiting?

My husband recently started using a CPAP machine for his sleep apnea. He's been feeling nauseous sometimes in the morning, and yesterday he actually vomited after using it all night. Is it possible for the CPAP machine to cause vomiting as a side effect?

Hey, don't worry too much. Sometimes when you're new to CPAP, swallowing too much air can cause severe bloating and nausea, which might lead to vomiting. Take a deep breath, and let's get it checked by your doctor.

Yes, if the air pressure is too high, it can cause severe nausea and vomiting. You should definitely speak to your doctor.

Man, throwing up is the absolute worst, especially when it ruins your sleep and dinner. If you are swallowing air with the CPAP, it fills your tummy like a balloon. Definitely get the settings adjusted.

Practically speaking, if the mask doesn't fit right or the ramp pressure is too high, air goes into your stomach instead of lungs. This triggers a strong gag reflex. Get your mask fit checked at the clinic.

I totally get it, vomiting after using a machine meant to help you sleep must be so exhausting and scary. Swallowing air can really upset the stomach. Please get the pressure settings adjusted soon.

Whoa, vomiting from CPAP sounds terrible! My uncle uses one and he said he felt nauseous in the beginning because of the dry air and pressure. Maybe check if your settings are too high?

Yes, it can happen if you are swallowing air. Check your CPAP app data to see if there are high leak rates or pressure spikes during the night. Sharing those logs with your doctor will help them fix it.

Please don't ignore this. I once ignored severe nausea from my CPAP and ended up with bad gastric reflux complications. Go to your sleep specialist immediately and get the settings corrected.
