Can covid give you diarrhea and vomiting?

My whole family recently tested positive for Covid, and apart from the typical fever and body ache, many of us are also experiencing severe diarrhea and vomiting. We always thought Covid was more about cough and breathing problems. Are these digestive issues common with Covid?

Yes, gastric issues are quite common with covid. If you are facing this, please stick to very light, home-cooked food like plain khichdi or curd rice. Avoid spicy things and dairy milk completely till your stomach settles down.

Oh yes, it absolutely can! When I had covid, my stomach was in a total mess for the first three days. Keep drinking ORS and coconut water to stay hydrated, you will feel much better soon!

It definitely does, and it completely ruined my appetite. I couldn't even look at my favourite biryani without feeling nauseous. Just focus on simple daliya for now, your tastebuds will get back to normal eventually.

I was actually reading a study about this yesterday, and apparently, a good percentage of people get stomach symptoms before the cough even starts. It's crazy how a respiratory virus can affect the gut like this.

Our digestive system is closely connected to our overall immunity and energy. Just drink warm water, rest as much as you can, and let your body heal itself naturally. Praying for your quick recovery.

Yes, it happens because the virus attacks the gut lining. Do not attempt any workouts if you have these symptoms; you'll severely deplete your electrolytes. Just focus on ORS, salt-sugar water, and complete bed rest.
