Can covid cause vomiting blood?

My friend, who had a very severe case of Covid a few months back, mentioned that he briefly vomited blood during his illness. This sounds incredibly alarming. I wanted to know if this is a known, albeit rare, complication or symptom of Covid infection.

While simple stomach irritation can be managed with coconut water, vomiting blood is a very serious symptom. Please do not try any home remedies for this and take the patient to a hospital immediately.

Vomiting blood is not a normal symptom and can indicate severe internal bleeding or ulceration worsened by Covid or medications. Please go to an emergency room immediately for a proper checkup.

I always try to be very careful with health symptoms, but vomiting blood is definitely something that cannot be managed at home. Please contact your physician or go to a hospital immediately to be safe.

This is a major red flag symptom. Vomiting blood (hematemesis) during or after Covid requires immediate hospitalization. Do not wait for forum replies; go to the nearest emergency department right now.

You must go to a well-equipped hospital immediately. Vomiting blood can be due to a severe stomach lining tear or drug reaction and requires urgent medical evaluation by a gastroenterologist.
