Can coughing cause throat pain?

Since kal evening, I've had this persistent cough, and now my throat is really hurting, especially when I cough. It feels raw and sore. Can continuous coughing actually be the cause of this throat pain?

Yes, absolutely. Continuous coughing really irritates the throat lining, so warm salt water gargles 3 times a day help a lot.

Listen, don't worry too much. It is very common for the throat to hurt after coughing constantly because of the friction. Just take some warm water, rest your voice, and if it doesn't get better in two days, we will see a doctor, okay?

Oh yes, it definitely can! 😅 Whenever I get a bad cough, my throat feels like sandpaper. Sipping warm ginger-honey water really does wonders to soothe the pain!

Please don't just ignore it thinking it's just from coughing. I once kept ignoring my throat pain and it turned out to be a severe infection that needed antibiotics. Better to consult a doc before it worsens.

Actually, I just got over this last week. The dry cough was so bad my throat was burning every time I swallowed. Steam inhalation and hot soups finally gave me some relief.

It usually does, but you shouldn't assume. Throat pain can also be due to tonsillitis or a bacterial throat infection. Please get a proper physical exam done by an ENT specialist to be safe.

I can understand how annoying that throat pain is. I have tried everything from mulethi chew to warm turmeric milk, and honestly, simple steam with a bit of pudina leaves works best to calm the dry throat.
