Can constipation cause hip pain?

Been dealing with constipation for a few weeks now, and also experiencing this nagging pain in my hip, especially on the right side. I'm wondering if there's any connection between the two. Can prolonged constipation lead to hip pain?

Hey, don't stress too much! Yes, a backed-up bowel can press on the nerves near your lower back and hips, making them ache. Try drinking lots of warm water and see if it eases up once your stomach clears.

I absolutely panicked a few months back thinking I had a joint issue because of this hip ache. But my doc reassured me it was just my severe constipation putting pressure on the pelvic nerves. It went away soon, so don't worry.

I literally just dealt with this last week. The pressure from severe constipation was radiating straight to my lower back and left hip. Once I took some fiber and cleared my bowels, the hip pain completely disappeared.

Between my toddler waking up and my slow digestion, my body is a mess. Yes, constipation can cause hip pain due to all that built-up pressure. Honestly, a good bowel movement is the only therapy my hips and mind need right now.

Yes, it can. The pelvic nerves are very close to your colon, so a full rectum causes referred pain in the hip and lower back. If it doesn't clear up after you pass stool, go consult an orthopedist.
