Can common cold cause vomiting?

My little one has a cold with a runny nose and cough, but this morning, she also vomited. I'm wondering if a common cold can sometimes cause vomiting in kids.

Sometimes a cold gets so dramatic that all that mucus dripping down your throat decides to trigger your gag reflex! It's super annoying but totally possible, especially if you are coughing a lot. Just keep a bucket nearby and laugh it off, you'll be fine!

Honestly, yes. When I had a severe cold last winter, the constant coughing and post-nasal drip made me throw up twice. It's gross but it happens. Drink warm water and don't eat heavy meals until your stomach settles.

Yes, swallowing excess mucus or having intense coughing spasms frequently triggers the vomiting reflex during a cold. Make sure to stay hydrated with small, frequent sips of ORS or coconut water. If the vomiting persists for more than 24 hours, it is best to consult a clinic.

Vomiting during a cold usually happens because of mucus accumulating in the stomach, or severe coughing fits. To handle this, avoid dairy products as they make mucus thicker. Stick to warm clear broths and ginger water in small sips.

I got so scared when I threw up during a cold, thinking it was some dangerous stomach infection. But apparently, swallowing phlegm can really upset your stomach lining. Just watch out for dehydration, and if you feel very dizzy, please consult a doctor.

It definitely can, especially in kids or people with a sensitive gag reflex due to post-nasal drip. If the vomiting is continuous and you can't keep fluids down, don't wait out a simple cold—go see a doctor to get an anti-emetic.

Omg yes, last semester I had this crazy cold and the coughing was so bad I literally threw up my dinner. My mom told me it's just because of the phlegm irritating the stomach. Just take it easy and sip on some warm limbu paani.
