Can collagen cause kidney problems?

My friend, who is into fitness, suggested I start taking collagen supplements for joint health. However, I have a family history of kidney issues, so I'm always cautious. Can collagen supplements cause kidney problems in some individuals?

Why take these artificial powders when you can get good nutrition from fresh daal, paneer, and a balanced diet? If you still want to take collagen and start feeling any back pain or changes in urination, stop it immediately and go to a doctor.

I was looking this up recently because my gym friends drink it daily. From what I read, collagen is high in protein, and too much protein can put extra stress on the kidneys if you already have some underlying issues. For normal healthy people, it seems mostly fine in moderation.

Honestly, I panicked big time when I started collagen and read some scary post about kidneys online. I went to my doctor, got my kidney function tests done, and everything was perfectly normal. Just don't overdose on it and keep your water intake high.

I totally get it, we hear so many conflicting things about supplements these days and it gets so worrying. Unless you have an existing kidney condition, a normal dose of collagen won't hurt. But definitely listen to your body and don't ignore any discomfort.

Oh god, I always worry about this kind of stuff before taking any new supplement! I keep thinking what if it damages my organs slowly. To be absolutely safe, maybe get a quick kidney function test done first, just so you can sleep peacefully at night.

Kidney issues are very serious and often don't show symptoms early on. Instead of relying on online forums, please consult a urologist or nephrologist. They can do a simple blood and urine test to tell you if collagen is safe for your body.

Dude, too much of anything is bad. If you are taking the normal recommended scoop, it won't destroy your kidneys. Just buy a clean brand without trash fillers and drink your water daily.

I've been using collagen for gym recovery for over a year now. I get my blood reports done every six months, and my kidney markers are absolutely fine. Just don't overdo the protein intake and you'll be good.

Most collagen supplements are animal-derived, and high animal protein intake can sometimes overload the kidneys, especially if you aren't drinking enough water. If you are taking it, make sure you consume plenty of fluids throughout the day to help your kidneys filter it out.

Managing PCOS has made me very careful about what supplements I put in my body. Since our hormones and metabolic systems are already sensitive, I always consult my doctor before adding something like collagen. It is better not to guess with these things.
