Can cold breast milk cause vomiting?

I usually store breast milk in the fridge, and sometimes I give it to my baby directly from there if he's hungry and I'm in a rush. My mother-in-law warned me not to, saying it can make the baby vomit. Is it true that cold breast milk can cause vomiting in infants?

Oh dear, I used to worry about this constantly with my little one! I was always scared that even slightly cool milk would upset her stomach or cause colic. Honestly, cold milk itself shouldn't cause vomiting, but some babies just don't like the temperature or drink too fast. Try warming it slightly to be safe.

Please don't assume it is just the cold milk causing the vomiting. I once ignored my child's frequent spit-ups thinking it was a minor feeding issue, and it turned out to be a severe milk allergy that needed medical care. Please get your baby checked by a pediatrician immediately if they throw up repeatedly.

I just went through this phase with my baby last month. I tried giving expressed breast milk straight from the fridge, and my baby threw it all up. Once I started warming the bottle in warm water to room temperature, the vomiting stopped completely.

Technically, cold breast milk is safe and doesn't lose nutrients, but a baby's stomach is highly sensitive. The temperature difference can sometimes trigger a gag reflex or mild spit-up. Try tracking the feeding times and milk temperature on a baby app to see if there is a pattern.

While cold breast milk is usually fine, continuous vomiting in an infant is something you should watch carefully. Just like I do regular follow-ups for my thyroid, babies need proper pediatrician checkups when their digestion acts up. Please consult your doctor if the vomiting continues.

Cold milk is generally safe, but a baby's digestion is very delicate. If your baby is vomiting forcefully or looks dull and dehydrated, please do not wait or try home tricks. Take the child to a pediatrician immediately to ensure everything is okay.
